For as long as I can remember, I’ve played video games. Sure, I liked to dress up in pretty clothes and I rocked frilly socks like nobody’s business, but along with that, a lot of my childhood was spent saving princesses, eating pellets, and blowing up aliens. Video game graphics have come a long way since those 8-bit days, but there’s still something to be said about those early games—and it’s pretty amazing to think that I’ve grown up alongside the video game industry. While I don’t miss blowing into cartridges and not being able to save my progress, I do still find myself feeling all nostalgic. So if you’re a gamer girl who feels all warm and fuzzy seeing pixelated graphics and hearing chiptune music, then why not show your love with some 8-bit accessories? ‘Cause gamer style is not all geeky tees.
1. Super Mario World Mushroom Earrings
These mushroom earrings really ought to be a staple in any gamer girl’s wardrobe!
You can’t think 8-bit nostalgia without picturing Pacman — or one of the ghosts! With this ring, you can rock Blinky on your fingers (and it even flips to show that other side of Blinky — you know what I’m talking about!).
I may not have bought my Space Invader stud earrings from here (I got mine from a cute store in Banff!), but the end result is the same: 8-bit loving for my ears! I wear mine all the time — they’re cute and subtle and just plain awesome.
Yes, I adore Legend of Zelda games — and for good reason! How could you not love that your life bar was made up of hearts? And this necklace is actually 2-in-1: You can wear both chains and keep a full heart, or share a half with someone equally awesome.
“You got a Green Rupee. That’s worth 1 Rupee! Better collect lots of them!”
How could you NOT want to rock everyone’s favourite pink puffball on your ears?
Wearing this necklace, you’re sure to feel invincible.
