On a windy yet sunny April 6th afternoon, Paper Droids had its first meet-up! After a suggestion from a PD fan and writer, we decided to take a little field trip to Game On 2.0 at Toronto’s Science Centre.
Once everyone arrived, we bought our tickets and headed downstairs to learn about gaming history, how gaming evolved, and constantly had hits of nostalgia.
The large exhibit was crowded and filled with a ton of small children, but it was understandable because it was the weekend. We were patient to wait our turns to try out the games and even managed to battle each other. While I thought I was rusty, I even ended up playing a soccer video game with a stranger but a gaming enthusiast all the same. And yes, this geek girl still got skills!
I think the best part of the day was when we all played Rock Band together. I wasn’t the greatest at it, but we sang, wore big, contagious smiles and laughed while a few children in the background watched us in awe.
We had a great time, got to see and play a lot of cool games—old and new, and got to be our awesome gaming geek selves!
If you couldn’t make it to our first meet-up but you’re interested in going to Game On 2.0, it’ll still be open to the public until September 2, 2013.
