You read that correctly! Joss Whedon, the man behind the massive success that was The Avengers, will be back to direct The Avengers 2 and help Marvel develop a live action television series on ABC based in the same universe as the film.
Though the Avengers are already on television in just about every cartoon incarnation you can think of–seriously, there’s a version of Iron Man in high school, and it’s the most annoying superhero cartoon I have ever seen–the involvement of Whedon (the man behind Buffy, Angel, and Firefly, for the three of you out there who are unaware) means new and refreshing things for Marvel characters on the small screen.
The real question is, how will Marvel stop him from killing off every character we hold dear?
UPDATE: Whedon has signed a three year contract with Marvel studios.
